I feel kinda stupid now that I've found the solution to be so simple.
I kept telling people that I had no idea how to centralise the website using CSS, so I kept advising them to use the "margin-left" property.
After some research (looking at the source code of perfectly centralised sites) and other research (Melatoninjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02378835092592241842noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213549734993978890.post-41546127096769686852010-10-11T08:24:00.000-07:002010-10-11T08:24:04.219-07:00Digital Photography: KL Street Pikachus, I Choose You!So, yes.

Below are some restaurant websites that caught my attention for both design and information hierarchy.
1. Barley's Greenville.
I liked this site for a number of reasons. The main one being the way in which the menu was laid out. Although it does not have supporting pictures for each itemMelatoninjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02378835092592241842noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213549734993978890.post-62567516187949974372010-09-13T11:46:00.000-07:002010-09-13T11:46:01.868-07:00Web Design 2: Inspiring Commercial WebsitesBelow are four commercial websites that I was pretty impressed with. The thing that all 4 of them have in common is the clear navigation and beautiful design. I believe the design is beautiful because the corporate identity is very apparent in each site.
1. Rohm and Haas.
2. conEdison.
3. McDonald's.
4. Levi's Strauss.

Because firstly, their outlets are pretty well done. I was surprised at how poorly the site was constructed. No offense!
Anyway, to the obvious next step when attempting to revamp a design; Competitor analysis!

Below are some screenshots of the pages that I felt could use the MOST improvement:
The homepage could definitely be more interesting, >_<.
The Menu page could be better layed out.
Too much text, poor alignment, no mood to read, >_<.
The HTML Table border gives me lols.

This semester's brief requires us to redesign an existing corporate website. Below is the first part of initial planning:
Gantt Chart, blergh!
Below is the site map of the existing website. There are quite a few things I would like to propose to change. I will cover that in a coming post, stay tuned!

Evolution is a given.
Everything evolves. And in my opinion, technology evolves faster than most everything else. Today, the lecturer asked what the differences were between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. Honestly, I've always wondered but never got around to finding out properly.
So after doing some research, I have compiled a list of the key differences from my understanding:
Web 1.0

Kinda thing. Like faux motion graphics. But using Flash.
Anyway, I am seriously having trouble trying to storyboard that shit, so I looked at some references on YouTube. I know it's not exactly what we're trying to achieve, but inspiration nonetheless.

I do realise that my priorities are all over the place when it comes to assignments, but meh.
Anyway, blogging a few screenshots for Web Design 1 because I'm stuck on ideas for the look. The coding is still a work in progress but that shall be up once I'm done.
1. First Round:
For this first one, I initially Melatoninjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02378835092592241842noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213549734993978890.post-58983710333943171472010-07-08T04:58:00.000-07:002010-07-08T04:58:26.138-07:00Mansions: Some Are Haunted.Progress on all fronts is kind of slow.
Well, generally.
Anyway, this is a short assignment update. I have a few more to get through, but I'm going to take a break for now. We have received the final project brief for Visual Fundamentals and it seems doable enough. Minimum requirement: 12-frame storyboard for a tourism TV commercial for your chosen country and a poster thing for said country.
Melatoninjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02378835092592241842noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213549734993978890.post-3036203153633394122010-06-30T09:31:00.000-07:002010-06-30T09:38:06.396-07:00Scrolling Along The Horizon? On the Web Design 1 front, there have been a few "drastic" changes made to my project. I don't know if I can call them improvements, so I guess I'll just call them changes.
Anyway, I won't write a long long post detailing all the said changes, so don't redirect away from this page.
I will, however, mention that I've decided to try out a horizontal scrolling layout. So this is just a little postMelatoninjahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02378835092592241842noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213549734993978890.post-45458829254192169592010-06-30T08:29:00.000-07:002010-06-30T08:32:22.930-07:00Ohnoes! And I need to make an update, so I shall follow this falla's good example and post people drinking coffee or tea or [insert hot beverage of choice].
I had a lot of fun doing this particular assignment. The actual colouring didn't take very long, but I spent a really long time sketching it because my proportion is – how to say – uhm, fail? Creating a moodboard to show the overall feeling and direction of the site. I don't really know if I did it right, but this was sorta what was in my head when I think of what the website will look like.
In other news, I do believe I need to post my flowchart too.
Anyway, moodboard below. Click to enlarge and all that jazz.
